Using Yolŋu Marrparaŋ (wellbeing) resources to improve social and emotional wellbeing: a community-initiated developmental evaluation
This project will centre around the Yolŋu cultural strength of marrparaŋ, a complex, multi-layered concept which can be loosely translated as wellbeing. The project will develop, implement and evaluate marrparaŋ resources to improve socio-cultural wellbeing in the Laynhapuy Homelands.
The maparraŋ resources will be accessible, shareable resources that will be used by Yolŋu with Yolŋu to generate conversations and actions that build community and family marrparaŋ. The resources will also be used to build Yolŋu confidence and skills in communicating with non-Aboriginal people. This project will contribute valuable learnings to support health services and other organisations in developing this role and employment mechanisms.
