This project is being led by Aboriginal people who are either Stolen Generation or descendants of Stolen Generations. This project is a foundational piece of research to examine what evidence exists in relation to the health and wellbeing of Stolen generations and their descendants in South Australia. The project will identify future priorities for Stolen Generations and their descendants as determined by them. In South Australia, one in four Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 and over are Stolen Generation and almost half of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in SA are descendants. The National Healing Foundation has identified profound effects on both First Generations and their descendants, with significant impact on all indicators of disadvantage, resulting in  greater need for adequate policy and service responses across a range of public services,  including ageing, health, disability, and housing services. This project aims to contribute evidence to adequately improve policy and service responses to Stolen Generations and their families in South Australia.
