Who is it for?
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who are looking to:
- formalise and extend their experience in research
- complement and extend their qualifications in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander healthcare
- gain an entry-level qualification for pursuing a career in research and a stepping stone to further university-level study.
Where is the course based?
- The course is currently being delivered by Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council of NSW (AH&MRC), RTO Number 91020.
- In 2025 the course will also be delivered in Victoria by Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) Education and Training, Yagilaith Djerring.
What does it cost?
ABSTUDY eligibility criteria will apply, including funding to support travel for the face-to-face components.
Course outline
The units in this qualification are:
- Use research outcomes to support organisational and community change
- Conduct a literature review for research
- Engage in community health research
- Interact with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisation members and the community
- Work legally and ethically
- Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety
- Secure and manage funding
