19 November, 2024

Our 4th International Indigenous Health and Wellbeing Conference is fast approaching. Join us from 16–19 June 2025 on Kaurna Country in Adelaide, South Australia, for an inspiring gathering of leaders, knowledge holders, and advocates committed to advancing Indigenous health and wellbeing.

Our three-day conference attracts a global audience committed to sharing knowledge for the health and wellbeing of Indigenous peoples. With more than 1,200 delegates attending our conference in 2023 from across Australia and the world, we are looking forward to once again creating a safe space to share innovative ideas and transformational research grounded in our ways of knowing, being and doing.

Our theme – Strong, Fearless, Together

Our conference theme honours the legacy of our co-patron and namesake, the late Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue AC CBE DSG. With unwavering courage and grace, Dr O’Donoghue’s legacy inspires us to stand STRONG, be FEARLESS, and work TOGETHER for the health and wellbeing of Indigenous peoples.

Our artwork is by Pat Caruso, an Eastern Arrernte artist born and raised on Kaurna Country, South Australia. Pat’s artwork was inspired by the importance of trailblazers in health and education such as Dr Lowitja O’Donoghue AC CBE DSG and his mum Dr Jenni Caruso. Submit your abstract and start planning

Are you an Indigenous researcher or working on an Indigenous health and wellbeing research project? We welcome abstract submissions from individuals, communities, and organisations working locally and globally with, by and for Indigenous peoples in the health and wellbeing sector, to present at our conference in June 2025.

Our conference theme Strong, Fearless, Together is embedded throughout our program, and we invite critical discussions about issues that impact Indigenous peoples’ health and wellbeing. We welcome presentations that embrace the following sub-themes:

  • Sovereignty and self-determination
  • Leadership and workforce
  • Country and climate
  • Knowledges, methodologies and traditions

We encourage presentations led by Indigenous peoples that demonstrate Indigenous leadership, have a strengths-based approach and contribute to the improvement of the health and wellbeing of Indigenous peoples.

See our conference website for further information on the themes and abstract submission guidelines.

Abstract submissions close 31 January 2025
