By donating to the Lowitja Institute you are making a genuine contribution to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led research that will result in positive and lasting impacts on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Your contribution will:

  • support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led research
  • grow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research workforce
  • ensure that research is impactful through community driven and funded knowledge translation activities.

Our research is built on priorities identified by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, 100 per cent of the projects we funded over the last five years featured Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander researchers.

The impact of our projects goes beyond healthcare, influencing approaches to service provisions in education, housing and justice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders communities:

‘The fact that it is genuinely community-initiated and led is the key to the project’s success. It’s not just research for research sake, it’s giving young people a voice and making sure the research has an immediate benefit for the community.’

Sue Thomas, Strategic Priority Lead

The BigiswunKid Project, Fitzroy Crossing

Lowitja Institute is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) as a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI).
