Our Workforce team held a Lowitja Learning webinar for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Members on 21 May.

The interactive seminar, ‘Research and Advocacy for Policy Change’, was led by Ngarabul woman and Lowitja Institute’s Executive Manager of Policy and Consulting, Rosemary Smith, and co-presented with Senior Policy Advisor, Jessica Szwarcbord, and Policy Officer, Emily Thomson.

Rosemary and Jessica shared a case study of how good strategic planning, relationship-building, and strong advocacy can lead to policy change at the highest levels of government. The seminar demonstrated the importance of Indigenous leadership on climate change and gave insight into what is required to create the transformational change needed for our country, our people, and the planet to thrive.
