Course outline 

There are six modules:

  1. Defining Indigenous Data Sovereignty 
  1. Introducing the toolkit 
  1. Implementing the principles of Indigenous Data Sovereignty 
  1. Wrap-up 

Some of the topics covered in the short course include: 

  • key terms used in relation to Indigenous Data Sovereignty and the Indigenous Data Sovereignty Readiness Assessment and Evaluation Toolkit 
  • the origins and development of Indigenous Data Sovereignty  
  • the role that Indigenous Data Sovereignty has in addressing ethical issues surrounding data collection, data use and data storage 
  • the purpose of the Indigenous Data Sovereignty Readiness Assessment and Evaluation Toolkit 
  • how to implement the principles of Indigenous data sovereignty in different settings and contexts. 

This course also includes access to two new online resources:

  • Community data literacy: Excel skills
